An Excerpt from Protected by the Wolf (A Werewolf’s Curse #1)
A drift covered her front yard starting at the street. When she stepped onto the place where her front sidewalk should be, her foot slipped.
“Oh!”
She grabbed Brad, but it was too late. She was falling.
She landed with an oomph. The top of the drift was hard and crusty from being wind scoured, but it broke under her weight. Then the fluffy snow underneath enveloped her. Brad landed over her, catching himself on his hands before crushing her.
“A bit icy, hey?” Julie laughed.
Brad nodded. His face was close, only a few inches from hers. The puff of his breath mingled with hers. “I had hoped you’d be under me at some point tonight, but I hadn’t expected it to be quite like this.”
Julie gaped. She couldn’t have heard him correctly. “I… What?”
Instead of answering, he lowered his mouth to hers. His cool lips brushed over hers, then he licked the outline of her mouth. He teased her until she opened to him, and he slipped his hot, wet tongue in and touched hers. She shuddered under the sweet invasion.
He withdrew and stared into her eyes.
“We need to get inside.” He stood, then extended his hands to her.
She nodded slightly, but didn’t move. “Why did you kiss me?”
“Julie, babe, if you get up and let us inside, we can do a lot more than kiss…”
