I recently realized that I didn’t include any pets for my dragon shifters (Mannix Dragon Shifters) or my werewolves (A Werewolf’s Curse or Lothian Werewolves).
How is that possible?
My cats are an integral part of my life. Dogs and cats have always been a steady presence in my life.
So… that got me thinking… what would be the perfect pet for a dragon or a werewolf?
Dragon Suitable Pets
My first choice for a dragon suitable pet is a cat. Cats are arrogant, so they won’t be intimidated by the dragons. Cats like being warm and everyone knows dragons are hot (both literally and figuratively).
My second choice is a bird. I’ve never owned a bird but I think dragons might like to have a companion that they could fly with, a bit like taking a dog for a walk, except in the air with feathers and such.
Werewolf Suitable Pets
My top choice for werewolves is a dog. Now, I know what you are thinking… dogs may not be comfortable being a companion to a being that is clearly a powerful predator, but… I think under the right circumstances the dog could come to recognize the werewolf as their alpha and enjoy being part of the pack. They could run through the woods together. Hunt. Enjoy the spoils of the hunt. And they could sleep in a big pile of canine / lupine happiness.
For my second choice, I feel like they might like something that is traditionally their prey–like rabbits or something like that. A creature they could feel protective of because they know all too well how fragile they are.
